Praise God for protecting us these past two days. We are still without electricity, our new home is damaged, but we can still praise Him for being our ultimate Saviour.
Because of the strong winds parts of our roof were ripped off. Then the rain started to leak in the house. Ed stayed up most of Friday night trying to find leaks with a flashlight and finding different containers to hold the water. Saturday morning our 2nd floor ceiling (in the guest room) caved in. We could actually see the sky!
Special shout outs go to the Chen family for coming over with tarp to help us move furniture and clean up. Also to Dad & Mom Leung for braving the storm on Saturday to drive from Sugarland to help us. We eventually lost another room's ceiling on the second floor. We kept on finding random leaks on the first and second floor -- which is never a good sign.
The Lord did answer our prayers quickly on Saturday! Alicia's co-worker's fiance is in the construction business. We called him to see what we should do about the ceilings -- he recommended a Christian friend and we called the company immediately. Within hours, they came and put a tarp over our roof to stop the leaking. Several of our neighbors saw the work and asked him to help them out, but he said that the line was so long...he wouldn't be able to help them until the next couple of days. I don't know how we found favor, but we really think that the tarp was the reason that the 1st floor ceiling didn't collapse.
Another praise is the community of neighbors that we were able to meet. Without electricity, a lot of the families were hanging out on the streets. We took a walk late Friday night and were able to meet neighbors and strike conversations with them!
As Ed keeps on saying, a house is just a house. We are continually thankful that for the most part our house insurance will take care of the repair costs. It puts a lot of things in perspective for us and hopes that this entry will do the same for you.
Thank you for all your prayers! Please continue to pray for the people in the evacuated areas -- they are in a much worse situation then us.
