4 Months Old

Ed was out of town so I went to the 4 month check up on Monday with Faith. She's currently 24 inches (50% percentile), 12 lbs and 14.5 ounces (25% percentile) and her head size was 39 and a half (10% percentile). I asked a ton of question to our pediatrician and was comforted to know that she is growing steadily despite drinking below average amounts. She also gave us the green light to start solids and said that Faith's skin seems eczema/allergy free so far! Praise God!

It wasn't all good news though. Our doctor referred us to a opthalmologist because Faith is cross-eyed. She also suggested that Faith start taking Poly Vi Sol for an iron supplement. On top of that, Faith has a "girl" issue that hasn't resolved since our last appointment...so we are going to return to the doctor's in two weeks.

The immunization shots went okay. She cried and then promptly fell asleep when we got home. However, it was still a rough day because she kept on flipping (despite our barriers) and waking herself up which caused for a all day fussy baby -- either the shots or the lack of good sleep or maybe a combo.

Faith's Accomplishments this month:
  • regular sleep schedule from 8pm to 8 am
  • attended playgroup with friends
  • became a flipping master
  • went to the beach for the 1st time (Cinco Ranch Beach Club)
  • Auntie Julian, Angela, & Allie babysat her and she did GREAT!
  • starting recognizing mom & dad...beginning of stranger anxiety
  • 1st time on Skype to talk to Gung Gung & Pau Pau in Singapore
  • hair is past her ears and neck now
  • 1st time we clipped her toenails
  • started sleeping with two barriers (pillow and a blanket roll)
  • drinking 16-20 ounces of breastmilk a day
  • smiling consistently
  • holding onto objects consistently
  • half roll from her back to her stomach
  • 1st wedding - Phoebe & Linton's
  • playing in Bing & Ellen's exersaucer

wow, almost 13 pounds!! go faith!! i guess i don't have to see her to know that riley has surpassed her weight. =) at riley's 2 month checkup, she was already 11 pounds 12 ounes. i think riley is 13 pounds or so right now...we'll see in another month.

that's great that her skin is excema/allergy free. i think riley has a mild case of excema. poor girl.

about the cross eyed thing, aren't babies supposed to be cross eyed to a certain point?

what's the iron used for?

glad to hear that faith looks excema free so far...and sorry to hear about the crossed eyes...we'll be praying for her visit to the eye doctor!

My nephew's eyes were crossed when he was a baby and eventually corrected itself. Nothing too worrisome.

Faith is doing great! Thanks for the updates.
