20 Months Old

enjoying dad time
enjoying mom time
having fun at a Dallas park with cousins
I don't go down slides on my tummy anymore.

The word this month is independence. With Faith becoming a sister in just 2 more months, we decided to start training her more to fend for herself. She now has to walk to places once we get out of the car instead of one of us holding her. She can now walk 2x times around our cul-de-sac. She can verbally request for "milk" or "water", pick up her toys, and get her own snacks off the table. She also is able to tell us when she "poop"s. We've really enjoyed the laughter and energy that she radiates now around the house. On the flip side, she's shown more resistance to discipline which has involved multiple time outs. Her recent defiance has been spitting.

Here are a few things for the Faith records...
  • favorite foods: spinach, napa cabbage, waffles, oatmeal, bok choy, frozen fruits, and Kix cereal
  • new words: Elmo, yucky, play-doh, Myla, Ed, socks, doggy, car, water, rock-rock, jump, apple, juice, and words to some songs (Jesus Loves Me; Row, Row, Your Boat; Twinkle, Twinkle; Wheels on the Bus)
  • continues to learn so much at Mother's Day Out
  • first time with play-doh
  • started playing regularly with the neighbors
  • when we ask her to say hi to the baby, she'll lift up Alicia's shirt and slap Alicia's belly (not very nice)
  • still sleeping well going to bed around 6:30 and waking up around 7:45/8; naps range from 1 hour to 2 hours
  • can climb up to her high chair now
  • new sign: I'm sorry
  • new trick: "Surprise" face
  • likes to take a comb and brush Mom's hair
  • loves to watch Baby Einstein (shapes and wild animals)
  • loves to walk around in our shoes and tip toe around the house
  • she likes to "jump" and attempts to get her feet off the floor
  • learned how to kick a ball and throw it as well
  • favorite activity: blowing bubbles and trying to "pop" them
  • trying to regularly put her on the potty at different times during the day
  • very attached to a blanket and stuffed animal (doesn't matter what kind as long as she has one)
  • loves dogs and looking for airplanes during our walks
  • can now give hugs and kisses upon request!
